E-Mails Suggest Bush Administration Pressured ICANN to Nix ‘.Xxx’ Domain
The proposal won support from Wired Safety and Wired Kids, the Internet Content Rating Association and other child-safety groups because of the way it was expected to make it easier for authorities and parents to police the Internet.Detractors said it just would make it that much easier to find porn.
Ok, what I am missing on this? I think the good outweighs the bad. Yes it would be “easier” for kids to “find” porn. It would also make it easier for those who want to protect others from it to do their job. Right now it is easy enough for kids to find porn, it’s called Google. Perhaps someone can enlighten me on what I am missing.

Suspended for Blogging
I’m not ready to call down plagues of locusts on Martinsville as part of some elaborate scheme of vengeance, but you can take it right from me, and some people in Tennessee, that it’s a bad idea to mess with bloggers:
Seems more people are getting in trouble for blogging about things people don’t want them blogging about.

Vendors to end Web surfers’ idleness
Enterprises face two main risks for indiscriminate Internet use: a loss in productivity, and legal liability if employees access inappropriate material. Companies try to enforce acceptable use policies, but 52 percent of large U.K. businesses still reported misuse of e-mail and Internet access, according to a recent study commissioned by the British government.
Many do not see the potential risks with web-surfing. This article does a nice job outlining some of them and offering possible solutions. Organizations must seek a delicate balance.

Blogging: Bubble Or Big Deal?
Forrester Research: Blogging: Bubble Or Big Deal?
Although Weblogs (blogs) are currently used by only a small number of online consumers, they’ve garnered a great deal of corporate attention because their readers and writers are highly influential. Forrester believes that blogging will grow in importance, and at a minimum, companies should monitor blogs to learn what is being said about their products and services. Companies that plan to create their own public blogs should already feel comfortable having a close, two-way relationship with users. In this document we recommend best practices, including a blogging code of ethics, and metrics that will show the impact of blogs on business goals.
You know blogs are going someplace when Forrester starts paying attention
